The following is a public statement from Kevin McFatridge, Executive Director of the Colorado Association of Health Plans, in response to the tragic murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

The Colorado Association of Health Plans (CAHP) is deeply saddened by the tragic and senseless murder of the UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. We unequivocally condemn this heinous act of violence, which has no place in our society.

Violence and hatred cannot be justified, even amidst frustration or disagreement. The alarming comments of hatred in support of this act are equally unacceptable and undermine the values of respect and dignity we strive to uphold.

This tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of addressing disagreements through constructive dialogue rather than intimidation or harm. CAHP remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a culture of mutual understanding, where conflict is resolved peacefully and respectfully.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson during this difficult time. Let us work together to ensure that such acts of violence and their toxic aftermath have no place in our communities.
