Denver, CO – The Colorado Association of Health Plans (CAHP) is proud to join the Keep Americans Covered coalition in unveiling a new interactive map that highlights the critical role enhanced premium tax credits play in making high-quality health care coverage affordable for millions of Americans. The map provides detailed state- and congressional district-level data, showcasing how these tax credits are helping individuals and families access affordable coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace.

“Affordable health care is essential for Coloradans,” said Kevin McFatridge, Executive Director of the Colorado Association of Health Plans. “This new map underscores the importance of enhanced premium tax credits and why they must be preserved to protect the health and financial stability of our communities.”

Colorado-Specific Insights:

  • 183,000 Coloradans currently receive premium tax credits, helping them afford quality health insurance coverage through Connect for Health Colorado.
  • Without action by Congress to extend these credits beyond 2025, these Coloradans could face an average annual premium increase of $787.
  • Of the 237,000 Coloradans enrolled in Marketplace plans, the majority rely on these tax credits to keep coverage within reach.

National Highlights:

  • Over 21 million Americans utilize affordable Marketplace plans to access comprehensive coverage, including preventive care, prescription drugs, and emergency services.
  • The interactive map reveals how much higher premiums would be without the enhanced tax credits, with localized one-pagers available for each congressional district.

Why It Matters:

These enhanced tax credits ensure that Americans, including those with chronic conditions, individuals living in rural communities, and small business owners, can afford the coverage they need. If the credits expire, many Coloradans and Americans across the country could face higher costs, leading to reduced access to vital health care services.

The Colorado Association of Health Plans urges Congress to act swiftly to protect these critical tax credits and safeguard access to affordable health care for millions.
